This seems to be the ongoing theme these days—finding a job. Here are a few names to pray for. If I missed anyone, please feel free to comment and add to the list.

Christin: at first she was hoping to work for a local school a few hours a day but now that the summer break is just around the corner, she is looking at other possibilities. Chris M: at this point, any job would do. He and Heather bought a home and not finding employment within the next 3 months or so can jeopardize their investment.
Larry: I just spoke with him last night. His car got repo'd last week and he needs to find a job closer to home. He has a very good lead and had a successful interview yesterday with Nationwide Insurance in Temecula. Rie: She is always in good spirits but don't let that fool you. It demonstrates her full faith in God's provision. She mentioned the possibility of getting a job in sales and also doing some tutoring in the summer. As you well know, teachers in California have been going through rough times as well.
Matt: His job at San Elijo Middle School ends in just a few days. He needs a way to supplement that loss of income during the summer break. Lederle: Pray for wisdom in deciding whether she should keep on going in sales/marketing or go back to teaching piano, or maybe both. Katie: She got laid off from teaching and next year is very uncertain. Darrell, on the other hand, got a summer job that will help them make it through the summer and some. Pray for this new couple that they keep seeking God's will and guidance.
Felix: His health issues are keeping him from finding regular employment. Pray for success in a network marketing opportunity he just started.

Jennifer may lose her job

Jennife's company is closing the branch where she works and she is worried about losing her job. Let's pray that God gives her the peace of mind to know that He is in control and that He will take care of her needs.

Pray for Team to Africa

Let's keep Luke and the team in our prayers. I just received word from Pastor Patrick in Salima, Malawi that there has been a delay in their reaching their final destination. It isn't clear where they are at the present time but we will let you know once we find out. They left San Diego on Tuesday last week. Just keep praying for their safe passage.

Hong Kong Mission Cut Short

Because of a series of events beyond their control, especially Christin's recent health, the Hong Kong mission is being cut short. Bud and Christin are planning to fly back to the States within a month or so. Please pray that they find another tenant to take over their apartment so that they get their deposit back. On the bright side, a friend is offering them 6 months of free lodging in Temecula. It also comes with the free use of a vehicle! Continue to pray for God's leading as they reunite with Crossweave and work side by side with the rest of the members of the body.

Satanism in Malawi

Pastor Patrick just emailed that he is suspecting that a deadly ritual of Satanism is causing an unexplained illness in his wife, Florence. She is in another town getting medical help and he just received a report that a certain individual who goes by the name 'Elijah' is teaching a false doctrine of prosperity through the killing of a person. He mentioned the use of human blood and sacrifice of sorts. Many things are unclear because of the language barrier. Let's keep this family in our prayers and that God would intervene in a powerful way.

Unexplained deaths in Africa missions

Two of Luke's key personnel in Malawi—Wilburous and Jottsen—lost a son and a daughter just days apart of each other. According to the medical authorities, the cause of death is inconclusive. It is a very difficult and sad time for their families and we can pray that they find comfort and peace knowing that Jesus has conquered the grave.

Trials in Hong Kong

Bud called the other night to let us know that he lost his wallet on the train. He is deeply concerned because it contained all his ID's and credit cards including a copy of his birth certificate. Fortunately, he did not have his passport in his wallet otherwise it would have been a lot worse. Pray for his peace of mind and that he would be able to notify the appropriate financial institutions and other agencies of this incident. Bud and Christin Newman are our missionaries to China.

Patrick's wife in Africa

Patrick's wife, Florence, was taken to the hospital last week for surgery. After conducting a scan, doctors found out that her baby had died in the womb. Please pray for God's protection over her and the rest of the family. Also pray that God will use this incident to bring everyone closer to each other, including the congregation in Salima. Patrick is a pastor we are sponsoring in Salima, Malawi.

Rie's car died

Rie barely made it to church because her car kept running out of coolant. It finally died on her on the way home. Aparently her engine block had been cracked for sometime and finally caused the engine to stall. Rie is practice-teaching in Chula Vista and lives in Jamul. Having a car is vital for her to finish her program and start getting a paycheck. Please pray that she finds another car or a new engine.

Bud & Christin move to their new place

Wanted: More Jobs and More Work

There are several requests for prayer from church members that work in construction. Luke is working on a project in Temecula but problems with the paperwork have delayed the whole thing. He also says that he is getting bombarded with calls from workers looking for work. Brian is also losing his job in a few weeks. He and his wife Patty have just started their own electrical business and would like us to pray that God will bring some work their way. Jeff is back in the food industry since the mortgage industry has declined as well. He was in a fender-bender a couple of weeks ago but walked away unscathed. Jeanine is hoping to get a new job as well. Pray that all goes well.

New Challenges for Larry

Larry is needing heart surgery and hopes to be able to get scheduled for one before the end of the month. Pray that this gets approval from his health insurance before it runs out the end of the month otherwise he will be paying the additional expense of a COBRA policy. Larry also lost his job a couple weeks ago. He is putting in his application at a few prospective companies. Pray that the timing between his surgery and finding a new job works out.

Heart Condition

Larry called from the emergency room very early Sunday morning. He was admitted later on in the day so that they could monitor his irregular heartbeat. Please pray that the medication does the trick and that no other drastic measures are necessary.

Malaria in Africa

Our team in Africa requests prayer for Jeri, Luke's sister, who caught malaria. She may be returning to the States before the rest of the team. Jessica and Patrick both reported on successful Bible studies and baptisms just recently. They got the school going and the buildings are coming along very well. They also request prayer for minor lodging issues for the rest of their stay.

Serrano Family

Our friends, Sharnece and Elias Serrano have requested prayer for relatives. Eli's grandmother, Josephine has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has also spread to her liver and been given 3-6 months to live. Sharnece also has a 36 year old cousin, Vanessa, who is battling an aggressive brain tumor. Her 28 year old cousin, Nicole, is incarcerated for driving under the influence and killing a predestrian. Another cousin, 22 year old David, is recuperating from injuries caused by a roadside bomb while on foot patrol in Iraq. They appreciate all your prayers.

Request from Hong Kong

Bud called from Hong Kong a few nights ago requesting prayer and guidance on a matter regarding a situation that has to do with Christin's visa. She is finding it necessary to have a working visa in order to do volunteer work (and eventually regular employment). They are contemplating having her return to the States to get her papers in order but unsure if this is what God wants them to do.

Healing in Africa

Please pray for our team in Africa--two of the members, Jerisse and Jessica, are down with the flu. Patrick, a pastor we are supporting, just sent an email saying that Luke and the team arrived safely last Saturday. They suffered a blowout on a trip to buy supplies but no one was hurt. They ask that we pray for healing, protection, and success in their projects.

Africa Missions

Luke Carr is leading a team, Heart and Hands, to Malawi, Africa on a two-month mission trip. They will be working on another ophanage, a blind school and a missionary house among many other projects. The group leaves on June 28 and will be back on August 18. Pray for their safety and protection as they travel, work, and preach the Word.

Hit and Run

Brenda's 16-year-old niece, Alexis, is in a drug-induced coma with severe brain trauma and a broken pelvis due to a hit and run accident the other day. Pray for her healing and also for her parents--Manuel and Teresa--that they have the strength and courage to deal with this tragic experience.

Addiction and separation

A friend, JL, seeks prayer for his daughter who has been separated from her kids due to an addiction. He and his wife have taken her and the kids in. Pray for God's intervention and that He will provide for their needs in this very difficult and complex situation.

Another divorce

Another friend of ours called requesting prayer. Her husband just served her divorce papers. What encouraged me was when she said over and over again that "God is in control"! She called again this morning and spoke with my wife asking that we also pray for her husband sensing that he may be having a change of heart.

Divorce

A very close friend of the family is filing for divorce. Pray that she has the strength to make it through each day and to keep trusting in God for guidance. Also pray for her husband for healing in his life. Apparently, his military service in Iraq has had a detrimental affect on his ability to cope with his day-to-day living.

Bud and Christin request your prayers as they exchange vows on April 28. Things got complicated when Christin lost her job last week. They will be leaving for Hong Kong as missionaries as soon as they can get their plane tickets after the wedding.

Search for church partners

We need to find established churches that will partner with us. As a new church plant, it is vital to have the support of other believers who share our vision and values. Pray for the meetings that are being set up with other pastors.
